Participation Fees for U.S. Academic Institutions

The Arts & Sciences Complement

The Arts & Sciences Complement allows participants to seamlessly add journals related to the core Arts & Sciences I, II, III, and IV Collections. For the Arts & Sciences Complement, journals may be focused in any of JSTOR's more than thirty arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines. JSTOR's aim is to introduce important titles not included in earlier collections and to capture journals that cross discipline boundaries. A minimum of 150 journals will be added over five years, concluding by the end of 2008.

As with all JSTOR collections, institutions will pay two fees to participate in the Arts & Sciences Complement, an Archive Capital Fee (ACF) and an Annual Access Fee (AAF). The ACF is a one-time-only fee designed to ensure that JSTOR has the necessary resources to meet its archival obligation as technology evolves. The AAF helps cover the recurring costs of updating the archive and maintaining access and support services for participating institutions. These fees vary depending upon the JSTOR Classification of each institution. Please see JSTOR Classifications for an explanation of the five classes of U.S. academic institutions.

The Arts & Sciences Complement is only available to participants licensing at least one of the four Arts & Sciences collections.

The Annual Access Fee for the Arts & Sciences Complement will be pro-rated to reflect the number of titles that are available for access at the beginning of each year. In 2007, it will be 80% of the listed fee. The AAF for 2008 and after will be the full fee listed in the chart above. Participants wishing to add the Arts & Sciences Complement to their JSTOR holdings should complete the Collections Rider.

If you are an institution that participates in Business II, your Annual Access Fee (AAF) for Business II will decrease with participation in the Arts & Sciences Complement. Please see the Business II fees for your new AAF.
