The Arts & Sciences I Collection includes the complete back runs of 119 titles in fifteen disciplines. Established in 1997, it is JSTOR's first collection and includes many of the core research and society published journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics.
As with all JSTOR collections, institutions will pay two fees to participate in the Arts & Sciences I Collection, an Archive Capital Fee (ACF) and an Annual Access Fee (AAF). The ACF is a one-time-only fee designed to ensure that JSTOR has the necessary resources to meet its archival obligation as technology evolves. The AAF helps cover the recurring costs of updating the archive and maintaining access and support services for participating institutions. These fees vary depending upon the JSTOR Classification of each institution. Please see JSTOR Classifications for an explanation of the five classes of Canadian academic institutions.
Institutions may participate in Arts & Sciences I at any time and in any combination with other JSTOR collections. Please note that all fees are in U.S. Dollars.

JSTOR participants that have already chosen to participate in the Business Collection, the Language & Literature Collection or the Ecology & Botany Collection may choose to add the Arts & Sciences I Collection to their JSTOR holdings. The Arts & Sciences I Archive Capital and Annual Access Fees will be reduced to account for the overlapping titles with any of those three collections. This ensures that participants contribute only once for any title, no matter the collection in which it resides. Please contact Carol MacAdam at the address below for further details about the Archive Capital Fee.
