Participate in JSTOR

1. Submit the International Participation Feedback Form for JSTOR Classification and fee information.

   Please use the feedback form to provide us with information about your institution so that we can provide you with fee information. Gathering this information allows us to determine a JSTOR classification for your institution, upon which your fees are based. If you have questions about the form or wish to learn more, please email us at participation@jstor.org.

2. Take the JSTOR Network Performance Test

   Users at participating academic or research institutions will use JSTOR via the Internet. In order to ensure that your users will have efficient access to JSTOR, we ask that all institutions submit three (3) network tests on the same day if possible.

3. Complete and Return JSTOR Archive License Agreement

   All institutions must submit the signed and completed JSTOR agreement prior to gaining access to the archive. We have two (2) versions of the JSTOR License Agreement; please select the agreement most appropriate for your institution:

   Universities and colleges should complete the JSTOR International Archive License Agreement for Academic Institutions.

   Once completed, please return two (2) signed copies of the original agreement to:

   If you wish to expedite gaining access to the archive, you may also fax us the front page and Schedule A of the agreement once it is completed. However, please note that we will still need the two (2) original agreements through the mail for legal purposes.

Highlights of the JSTOR International Archive License Agreement

• Broad definition of "Authorized Users": Includes not only students, faculty, and staff, but also anyone present in the library.
• Site License: Access is provided on an institution-wide basis (not limited to library building). Remote access to authorized users is permitted. Authorization is generally controlled by IP address.
• Links into JSTOR: JSTOR staff will work with libraries to achieve stability and standardization.
• Interlibrary loan: Licensee may use materials printed from JSTOR in interlibrary loan. Publisher contact information is also provided in a publicly accessible area of the JSTOR website, so that requesting libraries can contact publishers directly, usually by email, for the materials sought through interlibrary loan.
• Support: JSTOR User Services Librarians are available by email, phone, or fax from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. US EST, Monday through Friday, for feedback, problem solving, or general questions. Help files and user documentation are also available online.
• Hardware and Software Requirements: Macintosh, PC, or UNIX workstations with Internet connectivity and TCP/IP installed and direct parallel or LAN-attached printer(s). A monitor with resolution of at least 800x600 is recommended for optimal performance. Using the most recent version of your internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer 6, Netscape 7, Mozilla 1.7) is recommended. PostScript Level 2 printers offer highest speed printing when this option is selected and internet connectivity of at least 1.5 mbits/sec data transfer capacity is helpful for obtaining the fastest access.
• Initial term of three years, with automatic one year renewal terms.
