The Mathematics & Statistics Collection unites over forty titles in the mathematical and statistical sciences from existing JSTOR collections. Journals in this collection overlap with Arts & Sciences I, II, IV and the Complement, as well as with the Business and Health & General Sciences Collections.
Authors featured in the Mathematics & Statistics Collection include historical giants such as Einstein and Newton, as well as contemporary mathematicians like Lions, Mandelbrot, and Connes. Readers will discover Bertrand Russell's notable contributions to mathematical logic as well as Thesaurus author Peter Roget's description of the log-log slide rule used to calculate the roots and powers of numbers. Another highlight, contained in The Annals of Mathematics, are the results of English mathematician Andrew Wiles' seven-year investigation to prove Pierre de Fermat's elusive, three-hundred-year-old Last Theorem.
Government and Non-Profit Research Institutions will pay a one-time only Archive Capital Fee (ACF) and an ongoing Annual Access Fee (AAF) for each collection. The ACF is designed to help ensure that JSTOR has the necessary resources to meet its archival obligation as technology evolves. The ACF is paid once only, upon licensing an institution's first JSTOR collection. With the licensing of subsequent collections, no further ACF will be required. For further information, please see Archive Capital Fees for Government and Non-Profit Research Institiutions.
Government and Non-Profit Research Institutions will contribute an Annual Access Fee for participation in each of the collections that they select. The AAF helps cover the recurring costs of updating the archive, and maintaining access and support services for participating institutions. Please see JSTOR Classifications for an explanation of the five classes of Government and Non-Profit Research Institutions.
Institutions may participate in the Mathematics and Statistics Collection at any time and in any combination with other JSTOR collections.
