In response to popular demand, JSTOR is taking steps to link the older issues of titles archived by JSTOR with the recent issues published online. For the titles common to JSTOR and the current issue content providers we partner with (listed below), scholars are now able to search and browse the title, author, and abstract information for articles in the recent issues in addition to searching the full text for the past articles in JSTOR. In addition, users with a subscription to the journals held by our current issue providers, either through their library or individually, are able to follow direct links to the full-text articles available through these providers. Users without access to the databases that provide current content are encouraged to contact their librarian or the publisher to locate a copy of the article.
JSTOR is dedicated to providing a trusted electronic archive of scholarly journals. In balancing the interests of publishers, libraries and users, JSTOR does not offer access to the most recent issues of journals to ensure that publisher interests are not undermined as their older issues are made more accessible through JSTOR. However, the digital environment offers opportunities to link together disparate and related resources, and we have been working hard to develop a program that joins the back issues and more recent issues in a way that will make the experience for users as seamless as possible.
