Franz Steiner Verlag, founded in 1949, is an academic publishing house with books on history, music, French and German language studies as well as geography and philosophy of law. Franz Steiner is specialised in ancient, medieval and modern history as well as music. Known for its prestigious series and periodical Archiv für Musikwissenschaft, Steiner also publishes the Handwörterbuch der musikalischen Terminologie as well as the series and periodical Schubert: Perspektiven. JOURNALS INCLUDED IN JSTOR:Archiv für Musikwissenschaft(continues Sammelbände der Internationalen Musikgesellschaft) Since 1918, Archiv für Musikwissenschaft is one of the leading German periodicals for musicology.
