African Affairs is published on behalf of the Royal African Society. It publishes articles on recent political, social and economic developments in sub-Saharan countries. Also included are historical studies that illuminate current events in the continent.

Recent Americanist scholarship has generated some of the most forceful responses to questions about literary history and theory. Yet too many of the most provocative essays have been scattered among a wide variety of narrowly focused publications. Covering the study of US literature from its origins through the present, American Literary History provides a much-needed forum for the various, often competing voices of contemporary literary inquiry.

The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science encourages the application of philosophical techniques to issues raised by the natural and human sciences. These include general questions of scientific knowledge and objectivity, as well as more particular problems arising within specific disciplines. Topics currently being discussed in the journal include: scientific realism, causation, the logic of natural selection, the interpretation of quantum mechanics, the direction of time, probability and confirmation.

First published in 1886, The English Historical Review is the oldest journal of historical scholarship in the English-speaking world. It deals not only with British history, but with almost all aspects of European and world history since the classical era. It covers the history of the Americas, including the foreign policy of the USA and her role in the wider world (but excluding the domestic history of the USA since Independence). With contributions from around the world, the EHR includes major articles, notes and documentations, and debates on medieval and modern themes, and an unrivalled range and quantity of reviews of books published worldwide, along with a summary of international literature, published in the September issue each year.

The English Historical Review appears in February, April, June, September, and November each year, and with 288 pages in each issue, subscribers receive well over 1400 pages a year of the best in modern historical scholarship, of which some 800 pages or more are devoted to books.

European Sociological Review contains articles in all fields of sociology ranging in length from short research notes up to major reports.

When founded in 1952, the International and Comparative Law Quarterly (ICLQ) was unique. It was the only journal which offered the reader coverage of comparative law as well as public and private international law. It has maintained its pre-eminence as one of the most important journals of its kind encompassing Human Rights and European Law. It continues to offer practitioners and academics wide topical coverage without compromising rigorous editorial standards.

Journal of Design History is a leading journal in its field. The Journal of Law, Economics & Organization is an interdisciplinary exercise. Modern Judaism: A Journal of Jewish Ideas and Experience provides a distinctive, interdisciplinary forum for discussion of the modern Jewish experience. Articles focus on topics pertinent to the understanding of Jewish life today and the forces that have shaped that experience.

Founded in 1920 by A H Fox Strangways, Music and Letters is long established as the leading British journal of musical scholarship. Its coverage embraces all fields of musical enquiry, from the earliest times to the present day, and its authorship is international.

The Musical Quarterly, founded in 1915 by Oscar Sonneck, has long been cited as the premier scholarly musical journal in the United States. Over the years it has published the writings of many important composers and musicologists, including Aaron Copland, Arnold Schoenberg, Marc Blitzstein, Henry Cowell, and Camille Saint-Saens. The journal focuses on the merging areas in scholarship where much of the challenging new work in the study of music is being produced. Oxford Economic Papers is a quarterly journal publishing papers in a wide range of areas in theoretical and applied economics. In addition it regularly publishes special issues covering topics such as financial markets, public economics, and quantitative economic history.

The Oxford Journal of Legal Studies is published on behalf of the Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford. It is designed to encourage interest in all matters relating to law, with an emphasis on matters of theory and on broad issues arising from the relationship of law to other disciplines.
