New Linking Implementations with JSTOR

As part of our continuing efforts to make access to the JSTOR archive as convenient as possible, we are working with other resource providers in the library community to facilitate linking from their resources into the archive. As linking is implemented with new partners and is made publicly available, we intend to announce these new implementations to our participants via email and JSTORNEWS. We are pleased to announce that article-level linking into JSTOR is now available from several new linking partners:

Our participants have made it clear that continuing these linking efforts is important. Based on the linking statistics we have reviewed through August 31, almost 11% of the total articles viewed in JSTOR are the direct result of links from our linking partners. Already in 2003 we have seen some 1.6 million links to the JSTOR archive from participating publishers, participating libraries, faculty, and other content providers. As we have indicated previously, quality continues to be a concern as these article-level links proliferate. Just over 91% of the linking requests received by JSTOR include valid - or properly formatted - links. These are links which take the user directly to the article requested. We believe that the percentage of valid links needs to improve and we are developing strategies, in coordination with our linking partners, to review the invalid links received by JSTOR and to discern the possible causes.

Through August 31, the resources sending the largest number of article-level links to JSTOR were:

Resource

Research Papers in Economics (RePEc)
210,605
ABC-CLIO
178,171
