JSTOR now makes 464 titles available to researchers at over 2,300 institutions around the world. Our work to develop and expand several large collections continues. Specific collection updates are described below:
Arts & Sciences III
Titles: 121 signed; 93 available
We are focused on finalizing agreements with publishers for additional journals to join this arts- and culture-focused collection. We have recently welcomed Leonardo, Leonardo Music Journal, PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, Dance Chronicle, and Artibus et Historiae to the archive, and we expect more titles to join over the next several weeks. Securing back-issue loans and donations quickly has become particularly important as the production team prepares for the final release of the collection by the end of this year. Upon completion, scholars will have access to more than 120 titles in art and architecture, religion, performing arts, folklore, cultural studies, film, literature, and music. This collection features the most internationally diverse selection of titles in the JSTOR archive.
Arts & Sciences IV
Titles: 96 signed; 72 available
When the release of A&S IV is completed in late 2006, this collection will include over 100 titles in public policy and administration, law, health policy, education, psychology, and business. These journals represent over 150 years of scholarly publishing. Some newly signed titles are the Peabody Journal of Education, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Psychological Inquiry. A noteworthy cluster of student-run law reviews is also in this collection, featuring more than a century of top legal scholarship and making it accessible to research across other fields of study.
Arts & Sciences Complement
Titles: 73 signed; 31 available
We also continue to sign new titles for the Arts & Sciences Complement, with nearly half of the anticipated journals already committed to participating in the archive. The Complement will broaden JSTOR's selection in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, particularly with multidisciplinary journals. The Complement will also introduce new areas to JSTOR, such as linguistics. The inclusion of important unique journals such as The Black Perspective in Music and Imago Mundi, as well as historically important records like the Proceedings and Transactions of the American Philosophical Society distinguish this collection.
Biological Sciences
We are very pleased to announce the upcoming release of a new collection in the
JSTOR archive: Biological Sciences. The JSTOR archive already provides access to
the back issues of some general science, botany, and ecology titles. Our library
and publisher participants have long encouraged us to broaden our collection in
these areas. We have responded to this interest by working closely with the
Ecological Society of America and BioOne in the development of this collection,
which will become available later this year. This collection will include the 29
journals that are already part of our Ecology & Botany Collection as well as 36
new journals that have signed (and counting!). Please feel free to share your
comments and recommendations by contacting us at participation@jstor.org.
